DSC EXTENDER-75
Outstanding Characteristics:
Extends the practical use temperature of HEC Polymers by 75 to
100°F.
Compatible with all other common mud additives.
Non corrosive and non toxic.
Low viscosity liquid material which dissolves instantly in any
aqueous fluid with minimal agitation.
Useful over a broad temperature range.
Description:
DSC EXTENDER-75 is a specially formulated additive which greatly
enhances the thermal stability of drilling, completion and workover
fluids containing HEC Polymers such as DSC HEC LINEAR
GEL and DSC
VIS.
Application:
30 to 40 gallons per 100 (42 gallon) barrels of HEC polymer pill.
Handling and Shipping:
Observe warning label on product container. Normal precautions
for industrial chemicals apply.
Packaging:
DSC EXTENDER-75 is available in drums and bulk quantities.

Thermal Stability:
DSC EXTENDER-75 dramatically enhances the thermal stability of
fluids containing polymer hec. The following figures show laboratory
data obtained by heating samples of hec solutions containing 0,2700,
5300,8000 ppm of DSC EXTENDER-75 under various conditions. Actual
field experience predicts even less viscosity loss than is indicated
in the graphs.
DSC
EXTENDER-75 also enhances the thermal stability of hec polymers
in fresh water and brines, such as NaCl and CaCl2, as well as the
KCl solutions shown. It is equally effective in higher or lower
concentrations of HEC polymers, in the presence of other mud additives,
such as fluid loss agents, corrosion inhibitors or defoamers.
Table 3 shows that the addition of DSC EXTENDER-75 does not affect
the rheology or fluid loss properties of the fluid. The material
is effective over a broad pH range (8.5 to 12.0) and, under use
conditions, is noncorrosive.
